RECOGNITIONS INTERNATIONAL AND INSTITUTIONAL
“The OCEAN CITIZEN Project (Horizon Europe MISS-2021-OCEAN-02) is a consortium in which Underwater Gardens International participates alongside academic institutions and companies. Coordinated by the Università del Salento, the project brings together 21 partners and 3 associated or affiliated entities. OCEAN CITIZEN is a firm commitment within the framework of the EU’s Green Deal strategy. Within it, research groups, technical teams, and companies will work to consolidate a Sea Garden in Macaronesia, comparing results for biodiversity, biomass, and carbon credits with pilots in the Arctic, the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Red Sea. The project is structured into eight Work Packages, with implementation beginning on 1 January 2023.”
“Underwater Gardens International’s project «Marine forest restoration: a coastal gardening plan» has been officially endorsed by UNESCO in the framework of the Ocean’s Decade initiative (2021-2030).
This achievement consolidates Underwater Gardens International’s line in terms of specific proposals to solve the problems we have been accumulating in our oceans, promoting a new paradigmatic model that allows for an acceleration in coastal conservation and regeneration plans. A great effort is being made by the UN to put the oceans at the center to confirm their importance, and Underwater Gardens International represents that kind of project which, because it is different, is of particular interest to the UN community».”
«Underwater Gardens International is committed to the objectives of sustainable development, implementing them in its business model and company culture. For this reason, it has joined the Global Compact network, which aims to transform the global market, promoting a sustainable and responsible private sector that respects the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact. With more than 13,000 signatories in more than 170 countries, it is the largest voluntary corporate social responsibility initiative in the world.»
“In acknowledgment of Underwater Gardens International (UGI) contribution to advancing scientific knowledge of marine forest regeneration, ocean food sustainability and marine biotechnology, BNP Paribas is sponsoring the company for three years. On the one hand, the rationale of the sponsorship relates to both scientific progress towards ocean biodiversity enhancement techniques and blue carbon sequestration technologies. On the other hand, BNP Paribas recognizes UGI’s high consideration for the social impacts of its development: raising people awareness, education benefits, local communities involvement and job creation for example. The sponsorship agreement provides for BNP Paribas and UGI to collaborate actively towards the resilient development of UGI’s value proposition, in Europe and beyond. This collaboration includes BNP Paribas’ engagement with potential partners for UGI to gather the resources needed for its international growth.”
